Niwot Baseball Former Player Virgil Chevalier 1992 Graduate

Virgil was a stand-out in football, basketball, and baseball while at Niwot. His
leadership and talent led the Cougars to the top for all three sports. The 1991
baseball team ran into the buzz saw that was Scott Elarton (former Colorado
Rockie Pitcher) during Virgil's Junior year losing in the semifinals. The
football and basketball teams were able to overcome everyone in winning
State Titles during Virgil's time at Niwot.
Virgil was All-Conference, All-County, and All-State in baseball. He was named
the Boulder County Player of the Year beating out current Coach Roger Fisher
in 1992.
After graduating Virgil went to play for Seminole JC. After making the transition to the catching position
Virgil was on his way. The Boston Red Sox signed him as a free agent in 1994. From there Virgil played 9
years of professional baseball even reaching the AAA level.
Currently Virgil is an instructor at the Hayner Baseball Academy in Half Moon, New York. In addition
showing that he still has the little kid in him Virgil is playing adult amateur baseball.
