Niwot Baseball Former Player Jose Soto 2007 Graduate
|
Jose Soto is the poster child depicting what can be accomplished
through hard work. Jose began his Niwot Baseball career at under 115
pounds and never reached more than 145 pounds. Despite his lack of
size Soto will long be remembered as one of the most complete players
at Niwot.
Soto saw playing time as a Junior playing 3rd base and shortstop.
Entering his senior season Soto was the best player at multiple
positions and the coaching staff finally decided to play Soto at short.
Jose responded with a solid senior season hitting .304 with an on base
percentage of .439.
In addition to his hitting Soto appeared in 16 games on the mound for the Cougars. Soto finished 3-2 with
3 saves and a 4.55 ERA. The biggest moment of the season for Soto was closing out the District Title game
against Skyline. Soto exceeded his talent on a daily basis through his tireless off-season work and left
Niwot throwing 86 MPH.
Soto was named all Northern League and honorable mention All Area by the Boulder Daily Camera.
Jose received scholarship money from Otero Junior College in Lajunta, Colorado.
