Jason Lathrop
Varsity Head Coach
Jason Lathrop took over as Head Coach for Niwot on 11-29-06.  Lathrop has taken
over for Bob Bote who held the Head Coaching position at Niwot for 28 years.
Lathrop begins his head coaching career filling some of the biggest shoes in
Colorado baseball history.

Lathrop has coached at Niwot for over 9 years and was the JV Head Coach and
Varsity Assistant for much of that time.  During Lathrop's time at NHS the JV won
more than 80 % of their games and even completed one undefeated season.

Lathrop began his coaching career in Los Alamos, NM as a JV Coach there.  After
3 seasons Lathrop moved back to the Niwot area and soon began coaching and
teaching at his alma mater Niwot High School.
Lathrop played outfield at Niwot graduating in 1985.  During his playing career Lathrop played alongside current Skyline Head Coach
Mike Hoog.   Lathrop received his Master's Degree from CU in 1995.  He is currently an English teacher at Silver Creek High School in
Longmont.  Lathrop taught at Niwot and began the Niwot Book Club before transferring to Silver Creek in 1999.  Many in the teaching
community look forward to seeing Jason around Niwot once more.

In Lathrop's first season as the Head Coach he led the Cougars to a 3rd place finish in the state and was named the Rocky Mountain
News 4A Coach of the Year.  Not a bad start.

Jason and his wife Kassia live in Longmont with their two children Hailey (5) and Aiden (3).
