Craig McBride Head Varsity Coach

Craig McBride has been in the Niwot Baseball program for the past 9 years and has coached at all levels for the Cougars. He started working with the C team in 2000, coached the fall ball program, was an assistant on the J-V team, was the assistant on the Legion B summer team for a couple of years, and has been an assistant on Varsity for the last 6 years. Craig was named head coach in 2009.
Craig has been a hitting instructor for the past ten years as well as a part owner and operator of the Grand Slam USA indoor baseball Academy that was in Longmont for five years. In that time he has studied and learned from many exceptional hitting coaches including Jim Lefebvre (Professional hitting Coach), Bruce Carlyle (University of Delaware Hitting Coach), the late Ron Denning (Thompson Valley head coach), and from Bob Bote. Craig also earned certification from the Association of Professional
Baseball Instructors.
Before coaching for the Cougars, Craig coached at all levels of youth baseball starting his career in 1990. He started coaching in Wheat Ridge and then moved into the Pomona area of Jefferson County Baseball. In 1995, his 10-year-old Pomona Sky Sox competitive traveling team won the state championship and traveled to Hixon Tennessee for the World Series Tournament. From there Craig moved to Longmont where he coached the Longmont Blue Devils and was the traveling team coordinator with the Longmont Baseball League. Craig has been a part of three State Championships, one as the head coach of the Sky Sox and the other two as an assistant at Niwot High School.
Craig grew up in Loveland, Colorado playing baseball from the age of six. He played baseball at Loveland High School and graduated in 1982. He has owned his electrical contracting business, Radiant Lighting Services, Inc. for 22 years. He has been married to his wife, Jean, for 26 years and has two boys. Casey and Layne both played baseball through high school at Niwot.
