Niwot Baseball Former Player Alex Hart 2007 Graduate
|
Alex Hart will long be remembered for getting the biggest single
hit for Niwot in the past 8 years. Hart came to the plate in an
elimination game vs. Liberty in the State Tournament. Strolling
quietly to the plate he didn't show the pressure that should have
been there due to the fact that Niwot was down to their last out
and trailing by 2 runs. With an 0-2 count "Al" as he is
affectionately known calmly hit the next pitch over the right
center field fence to give the Cougars the lead. Niwot went on to
defeat Liberty and would finish 3rd in the State.
Alex played 2 seasons of varsity baseball and was a very solid
hitter. Al started slow his senior season, but came on strong
when it mattered. He finished the season hitting .405 with 6 home
runs in only 79 at bats.
Al's season had a bigger impact than his statistics show though as most of his home runs came towards
the end of the season and in the playoffs. Alex was named Honorable Mention All State, 1st Team All
Boulder County, and 1st Team All Northern League. Al is currently playing baseball at Otterbein College in
Westerville, Ohio.
