As our summer schedules come to a close, I want to connect with everyone regarding a few upcoming important items with Niwot Baseball.

1. SUMMER JERSEY TURN IN- We will have a players meeting on Tuesday, August 8th at 5pm on the varsity field. This will be for the 16U and Legion B summer teams. We will turn in the summer jerseys. Please have them washed so they will be ready to be stored for the year.

2. FALL BASEBALL WORKOUTS- We will be running a fall baseball program. It will be very similar as to how we have ran it in the recent past. It will be a 2-3 day a week program that will be held in the middle of the week. We will not have any workouts on the weekends. The program will consist of small group workouts, team workouts, program scrimmages, and possible scrimmages against other area schools. Scrimmages against other schools are TBA and will not be decided if they can happen until late August.

We understand there are possible options for some players to join area club programs for the fall that play a weekend game schedule. We support our athletes doing this but we have always viewed the fall as such a great time to slow down from the summer and work on the small parts of the game that were highlighted during the spring and summer. This is done in a small and controlled setting that has proven to be very valuable to our program. If you are considering an outside weekend program, then also consider being a part of our weekday program. Niwot players in the past have worked out with us during the week and then played on the weekends in certain cases with another club program. This has allowed the players to connect with their Niwot teammates and continue to be taught by the Niwot staff.

*We will be sending out full details of the fall program in mid August. This will include the schedule of the workouts, times, required paperwork, and cost. The program will run from the week of 9/4 through the week of 10/23.

3. NIWOT FALL/WINTER SPORTS- With that being said regarding our fall baseball program, I want to also say something regarding playing another fall/winter sport at Niwot High School. I want everyone to know that I completely support and encourage the participation in multiple sports. The kids will hear me say this a lot and it is sincere. A baseball player is by no means penalized or thought of differently by the baseball staff for playing multiple sports and missing some of our off season workouts. Our fall and winter programs are designed for those athletes who are not involved in another sport with Niwot at the time. We understand that late summer is a crucial decision making time for athletes deciding what to do in the fall and winter. Please know Niwot Baseball 100% supports Niwot Athletics and not just baseball. We love to watch our athletes compete in different sports, though we understand that is not for everyone. Hopefully this helps in some of boys' decision making.

As always, let me know if you have any questions.

A Message From Coach Strah

Niwot Baseball Family,

Now that the public announcement has been made about my hiring as the head coach, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of those involved with Niwot Baseball. My family and I are beyond excited for this opportunity and we thank those who have reached out welcoming us into this new role. Your support means the world to us.

I will be teaching physical education/health this fall at Niwot High School along with the head coaching duties. I look forward to being on campus, around our athletes on a daily basis, and working with an administration that has shown our family unbelievable support in this transition.

For those that I do not know all that well yet, I wanted to give you some of my background professionally and personally.

I have been with Niwot baseball since the 2011-2012 season. I came to Niwot after spending 5 years as the varsity head coach of Rampart High School in Colorado Springs from 2005-2010.

Before coaching at Rampart High School, I was a head JV coach and varsity assistant at Walnut High School in Walnut, California from 2002-2005.

I attended high school in San Jose, California at Gunderson High School. I played fall baseball at San Jose City College in 1999 and then played in the fall of 2000 at Azusa Pacific University in southern California. My playing days ended after that fall but continued at Azusa Pacific and obtained a B.A. in Physical Education.

I taught physical education /health at Rampart High School from 2005-2011 and most recently have been teaching physical education at Niwot Elementary School. I am excited about being able to stay in the feeder system and eventually teach and perhaps coach some of the students that have come through Niwot Elementary.

My family lives in Longmont. My wife Brooke is a Certified Nursing Assistant at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette. Our two daughters Emerson (3 ½) and Mercy (Almost 2) keep us busy and love coming to Niwot baseball games.

I am excited for a great summer of baseball and continuing the tradition of Niwot baseball. For those that are not involved in our summer program, I will see you in August at school.

If you need anything or have any questions, please feel free to email me at

Thank you for your time,
